First and foremost, we want to thank our incredible community of contributors and supporters. Your passion for making AI accessible to everyone has driven us forward this year. We believe everyone should be able to run and control their own AI models, and you've helped make that vision a reality.
2024 brought some amazing advances from the industry that moved us closer to our mission. Apple's new M4 chips made it much easier to run large models on personal computers. Open-source projects like MLX, tinygrad, and DeepSeek showed that community-driven AI can match or beat closed commercial systems - as we proved by running DeepSeek on regular Mac Minis.
Some quick stats from this year:
Early in 2025, EXO will be moving to a more open license. This aligns with our core belief that AI infrastructure should be truly open and accessible to everyone.
If you have contributed code to EXO, please join the license channel in our Discord where we will be coordinating the change.
